  • Internet speed review

Lately I have been suffering some very slow internet connection speeds at home. My connection seems to be suffering at different times of the day. Sometimes its so slow that I just walk away from the computer.

The first thig I did was check out my computer for any potential problems like a virus and stuff. I researched online and found that many internet service providers are not delivering on their advertised download speeds. Most of the broadband and cable high speed offers are really best case scenarios.

So to make sure you are not paying to much you should use some sort of free internet speed check website to monitor your actual connection speed. You might be very surprised to see that your service level is not even close to what you were promised when you signed up. Not that different parts of the country have very different internet connection speeds because of the internet backbone that your local provider is using.

When I went to test my internet speed I made sure that nothig else was running on my computer. Also I unplugged my modem for several minutes to clear it cache. Unfortunately its a trick that I learned earlier and it does not really make sense but in the past the tech support people from my local internet service provider had advised me to unplug the modem. It really helped improved my access speed and my internet speed test results were much faster. before i had reset the modem my test results were not even close to the published speeds. But after the modem was reset my connection speed was just about in the middle range for my connection type which is over the phone line. I do not have a cable modem set up.
